TAKATA RECALL THIS 2014 DODGE DART AERO HAS NOW HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THE CLUTCH AND AXLES. IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP TO HAVE THE SLAVE CYLINDER FOR THE CLUTCH AS WELL AS THE AXLES FIXED FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 2 YEARS. THEY ARE ALSO IN THE PROCESS OF CHECKING IN TO WHY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOR THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. THIS MAKES 2 TIMES THAT IT HAS GONE TO THE SHOP FOR CLUTCH AND AXLE ISSUES. THEY ALSO DON'T KNOW WHAT THE REAL PROBLEM IS FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I HAVE ASKED THEM TO BUY THE CAR BACK AND THEY WONT. THEY ALSO STATED THAT I MAY BE HAVING TO PAY SOME OUT OF POCKET TO GET MY CAR FIXED THIS TIME. THIS CAR IS NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. LIKE I MENTIONED BEFORE; TWICE FOR THE CLUTCH AND AXLES, THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON FOR A REASON THEY DON'T KNOW OTHER THAT THEY THINK IT IS THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR, THE THIRD TIME I TOOK IT TO DODGE FOR AN OIL CHANGE THEY TOLD ME THAT NO OIL CAME OUT OF THE ENGINE AND THEN TRIED TO EXPLAIN TO ME THAT MY ENGINE WAS "KNOWN" TO DO THAT. NOW I HAVE JUST GOTTEN OFF THE PHONE WITH THE MANUFACTURER CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY REPLIED WITH THEY WILL COVER ALL THE COSTS EXCEPT FOR $100. SEEMS KIND OF ODD TO SETTLE ON THAT AMOUNT. PLUS THEY WONT BUY IT BACK. THEREFORE, THIS CAR IS KNOWN TO HAVE CLUTCH AND ENGINE PROBLEMS AND DODGE EXPECTS ME TO DRIVE AROUND NOT HAVING TO WORRY ABOUT IF MY LIFE IS AT RISK. I SHOULD ALSO MENTION THAT THE TIRES THAT CAME ON THE CAR WERE FAULTY AS WELL AS I HAD TO REPLACE TWO OF THEM ALREADY. THE BANDS ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE CAME LOOSE AND CAUSED PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVING AS WELL. THIS IS JUNKER CAR THAT I PURCHASED NEW AND DODGE COULD CARE LESS THAT IT IS FALLING APART.

CAR WOULDN'T START HAD TO REPLACE THE STARTING HARNESS WITHIN THE FIRST 3 MONTHS OF OWNING THE CAR HAD TO REPLACE TWO BATTERIES EVEN AFTER THE HARNESS WAS REPLACED BUT HASN'T HAPPENED SINCE. HAD TO REPLACE THE TURBO HOSE ASSEMBLY FROM PULLING IN OIL AND CRACKED SINCE THE OIL WAS HOT. NOW IM HAVING TO PUT IN A QUART OF OIL IN IT EVERY MONTH AND I CHANGE MY OIL EVERY TWO AND HALF MONTHS (5,000 MILES) SO MY ENGINE IS BURNING THE OIL OFF TO QUICKLY (OIL CONSUMPTION). ALSO DROVE HIT A VERY SMALL POTHOLE AND HAD MY DRIVER SIDE CONTROL ARM SNAP VERY VERY CLEANLY AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULDN'T BE COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTIES.
WHILE TAKING OFF FROM A LIGHT MADE A LEFT TURN AND THE CAR JUST DIES THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS DOES NOT WANT TO START RIGHT AWAY TAKES A FEW MIN IT STARTED THIS IS SCARY BECAUSE MY 1997 DODGE TRUCK STILL HAS ALL ORIGINAL STUFF AND NEVER THESE PROBLEMS

INCIDENT HAPPENED ON FOUR DIFFERENT OCCASION. THREE TIMES ON RESIDENTIAL ROAD AND ONCE ON FREEWAY. COMPLETELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND HAS PUT MY LIFE IN DANGER MULTIPLE TIMES. ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. CONTACTED CHRYSLER DODGE AND THEIR SOLUTION WAS TO HAVE ME TOW CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND PAY TO HAVE CAR SERVICED EVEN THOUGH CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. CAR HAS PUT MY LIFE AND THE LIFE OF OTHER PEOPLE IN DANGER MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE COMPANY SEEMS TO NOT CARE EVEN AFTER CONTACTING THEM FORMALLY WITH COMPLAINT.

I TOOK IT TO DODGE AND THEY SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE A CODE BUT THEY SAW AN ISSUE WITH MY ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. A PART TO MY TRANSMISSION WAS RECALLED, WE WAITING FOR OVER 3 MONTHS FOR THE PART AND UPON BRINGING MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY REPORTED MY CAR NOT STARTING. ABOUT 3 WEEKS AFTER MY TRANSMISSION RECALL WAS "FIXED" MY ENGINE STARTING SMOKING UPON STARTING THE CAR AT LEAST 5 TIMES AND MY ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY REPLACED, THEY AGAIN REPORTED MY CAR WOULD NOT CRANK. MY CAR WAS IN THE SHOP FOR 27 DAYS, TWO DAYS AFTER PICKING MY CAR UP IT WAS BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALOR FOR THE CAR FEELING LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. IT'S BEEN ALMOST 2 WEIEKS WITH NO UPDATE. DODGE RESOLUTIONS HAS SENT AN INSPECTOR. INITIALLY THE CAR WAS PURCHASED WITH ABOUT 220 MILES ON IT, THE CAR IS ONLY AT 17,000 NOW.

PULLING TO A STOP ON THE MORNING OF TUESDAY, JUNE 21, CAR SHUDDERED THEN DIED 1 BLOCK FROM HOME. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, AND NONE HAD FLASHED IN THE 1.5 YEARS I HAVE OWNED THE CAR. COULD NOT GET CAR TO START FOR 10 MINUTES. ONCE CAR STARTED, NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED. DROVE IT TO MY LOCAL SERVICE STATION FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. THEY FOUND NO ISSUES. DROVE IT ALL DAY WEDNESDAY WITH NO ISSUES. THURSDAY MORNING, IT SHUDDERED AND DIED ABOUT 3 BLOCKS FROM HOME. AGAIN NO WARNING LIGHTS, AND CAR WOULD NOT START. HAD IT TOWED TO LOCAL SERVICE STATION WHERE IT WAS SERVICED ON TUESDAY. WHILE WAITING FOR A TOW, SEARCHED THE INTERNET FOR COMMON DODGE DART PROBLEMS, AND DISCOVERED THAT THEY BURN THROUGH OIL. CHECKED THE OIL AND ZERO OIL WAS REGISTERED ON THE DIPSTICK, DESPITE HAVING JUST OVER 3K MILES SINCE LAST OIL CHANGE. NO SIGNS OF AN OIL LEAK. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR INDICATORS OF A PROBLEM. NO ISSUES WITH OVER HEATING. MECHANIC IS CURRENTLY DIAGNOSING THE ISSUE TO DETERMINE A FIX. THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH DODGE DARTS IF COMPLAINTS ON PUBLIC FORUMS ARE ANY INDICATION. REPORTS OF ENGINES SEIZING DUE TO BURNING THROUGH OIL AT AN EXCESSIVELY HIGH RATE ARE COMMON FOR THIS CAR WHETHER THE CAR HAS 9K MILES, OR 50K MILES. IT IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS FOR A CAR TO RUN WITHOUT OIL, AND POSSES A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK, ESPECIALLY IF THE ELECTRICAL AND DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION IS NOT RECOGNIZING THE ISSUE SO THAT OWNERS CAN ADDRESS IT IN ADVANCE OF ENGINE SEIZURE.
THIS VEHICLE HAVE HAD TWO OCCASIONS OF MASTER CYLINDER BRAKE FLUID LOSS AND UNEXPLAINED TOTALL ENGINE OIL EVAPORATION WITHOUT WARNING THAT CAUSED THE LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING. LUCKILY IT HAPPENED IN CITY, NOT HIGHWAY.

On June 30, 2025, the Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) opened RQ25002 to investigate and review the effectiveness of Recall 19V-293. This recall was intended to address deterioration and detachment of shifter cable bushings by replacing them with an improved bushing that is less susceptible to deterioration from chemicals, oils, and solvents in MY2013-2016 Dodge Dart vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions and manufactured by Fiat Chrysler Automotive US LLC (FCA US). If the shifter cable becomes detached from the transmission, the transmission gear position may not match the driver’s intended gear selection. This mismatch could result in unintended vehicle movement or rollaway when the driver believes the transmission is in PARK, increasing the risk of a crash and/or injury. ODI has received sixty-three (63) Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQ) alleging worn or misadjusted shifter cables and/or shifter cable detachments in subject vehicles that had already received the remedy for Recall 19V-293. Complainants reported incidents of bushing deterioration and detachment, resulting in gear-selection mismatch despite the prior recall repair, raising concerns regarding the effectiveness and durability of the implemented remedy and the adequacy of the recall. ODI’s investigation sought to determine whether the remedy used in recall 19V-293 adequately addressed the cause of the failure and whether other vehicles using the same bushing design might be affected. In response, FCA US and Dura Automotive Systems Inc. (Dura) determined that the repair for Recall 19V-293 did not sufficiently address the issue, and therefore, a safety defect exists in the subject vehicle population. As a result, FCA US and Dura initiated the following recall actions: · Recall 25V-674 (FCA US) is intended to address MY 2013–2016 Dodge Dart vehicles repaired under 19V-293 or otherwise equipped with suspect service parts. Remedy is under development. · Recall 25E-065 (Dura) is intended to address the defect at the equipment level by recalling affected gearshift control cable assemblies distributed as service components. Remedy is under development. The recalls initiated by FCA US (25V-674), and Dura Automotive Systems Inc. (25E-065) were received prior to ODI sending an Information Request (IR) letter to FCA. These two recalls seem to resolve the concerns that prompted investigation RQ25002 by replacing the previously recalled and service-supplied shifter cable assembly with an improved design, currently under development. The vehicle scope concern identified in this query was addressed by the new recalls including all Model Year 2013–2016 Dodge Dart vehicles produced and equipped with the affected shifter cable assembly. Accordingly, ODI is closing Investigation RQ25002. The agency will continue to monitor field performance and recall completion data to evaluate the effectiveness of the new remedy. ODI reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. To review the ODI reports cited in the Closing Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.
