34 reportsABS BRAKES ARE LOCKING UP, CONSUMER CAN NOT STOP CAR. CONSUMER HAD TO HIT A CURVE TO AVOID HITTING A PEDESTRIAN. CUMMULATOR HOLD PRESSURIZED BRAKE FLUID, AND WITHOUT CUMMULATOR ABS SWITCH WON'T WORK. DEALER REFUSED TO FIX CUMMULATOR. *AK
CONSUMER CONTINUED TO HAVE ABS FAILURE EVEN AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR, DEALER REFUSES TO SERVICE CAR UNDER 10 YEAR OR 100,000 MILE WARRENTY BECAUSE THEY SAID IT'S TOO OLD. NLM (96V-099)
HAD RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE IN MAIL 96V099000. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER. HAD BRAKES REPAIRED TWICE & BOTH TIMES THEY FAILED TO WORK PROPERLY. NO REASON FOR BRAKES TO KEEP ON FAILING. *AK
ABS AND REGULAR BACKUP BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED 5 TIME AND THEY CONTINUE TO FAIL.
WHILE APPYING THE ABS BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL LOCKS UP, CAUSING NO RESPONSE FROM BRAKES. DEALERS ARE UNABLE TO FIND A FAULT WITH BRAKES. *AK *SLC
BRAKES EXPERIENCE EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCES CONSTANTLY, BRAKE ROTOR AND OTHER COMPONENTS REPLACED HOWEVER VEHICLE'S BRAKES CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE LOSS OF DISTANCE CONTROL.
HOLE IN AIR CONDITIONER, CAUSING FAILURE.
ANTILOCK BRAKE LIGHT FAILED PRIOR TO RECALL.
THE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT EXPERIENCES EXCESSIVE BRAKE ACTUATOR PISTON WEAR. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED UNDER SERVICE RECALL # 685, AND THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INTO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR 2 TIMES SINCE THE RECALL WORK WAS PERFORMED. *AK

THE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT CAN EXPERIENCE EXCESSIVE BRAKE ACTUATOR PISTON SEAL WEAR CAUSING PUMP-MOTOR DETERIORATION.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IF THIS CONDITION OCCURS, THE ABS FUNCTION COULD BE LOST AND REDUCED POWER ASSIST WOULD BE EXPERIENCED DURING VEHICLE BRAKING INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL TEST THE VEHICLE'S ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM AND REPAIR THE VEHICLES IF NECESSARY. ALSO THE WARRANTY ON ALL ABS COMPONENTS WILL BE EXTENDED TO 10 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES (EXCEPT FOR THE BRAKE ACTUATOR PISTON ASSEMBLY AND THE PUMP-MOTOR ASSEMBLY WHICH WILL HAVE A LIFETIME COVERAGE). OWNERS WILL ALSO BE REIMBURSED FOR PREVIOUS ABS COMPONENT REPAIR COSTS.

THE ZINC PLATING OPERATION PERFORMED ON THE UPPER STEERING COLUMN SHAFT COUPLING BOLT CAUSED HYDROGEN EMBRITTLEMENT AND BREAKAGE OF THE BOLT.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: FRACTURES OF THE UPPER STEERING COLUMN SHAFT COUPLINGBOLT RESULT IN A LACK OF COUPLING LOAD ON THE SHAFT AND LOSS OF STEERINGCONTROL.
Remedy: REPLACE THE ZINC PLATED BOLT WITH A PHOSPHATE PLATED BOLT.
