The transmission failed after picking up my son from daycare. I pulled on to the main road heading home. It started to speed up and suddenly started jerking back and forth causing cars behind me to slam on their brakes and then the car would not go over 15 mph. A few minutes later the check engine light came on and this is the first time it has come on. Called a tow truck and had it towed to a gm dealership they reproduced the issue and told me the transmission is bad and I need a new one because it is a sealed system it cannot be rebuilt. They quoted me $9900 for a new one and also said the transmission is on backorder with no idea when they will be available. They did not say what the labor charge was. This is outrageous for a vehicle that is less than 5 years old.

electrical, drivetrain, powertrain. While driving the vehicle a message popped up on the speedometer saying service battery chargeing system and battery saver mode. the is the second time that those messages have come up in the four years of ownership with the first time being in 2024. The second issue we have had with this vehicle was injectors going bad and causing a bad misfire making driveability rough. We have gone through three O2 sensors in the past 4 years. we have replaced the alternator and are fixing to replace it again. the driverside axle seal leaked. transmission slips bad. there is a current random misfire. Back in may of 2025 we were driving to Florida from missouri and had to slam on the brakes and when we released the brake the car refused to move and when i pressed the gas harder there was a loud bang like we had been hit but it was like the brakes had locked up completely. It shudders bad when starting. Two months ago the steering locked up while driving. Vehicle has been inspected several times by the dealer we bought it from but driving this vehicle is becoming my families worst nightmare.

After turning the car on, engaging reverse, and then retuning back to park (driver stepped out of vehicle once in park) the vehicle reversed 60 feet on its on through a parking lot with 2 children inside of the car (disengaged from park on its own while vehicle was running). The vehicle was ultimately stopped by a tree with damage to the tailgate and rear. The gear shift selector remained in park for the entire incident. A claim was filed with GM and the Traverse was initially labeled as a “intermittent failure” in my May 2026 claim interview. Post GM inspection, the vehicle is now deemed “operational” (no repairs from GM) and being returned to my family as of July 2026.

My transmission started acting up at 77,000 miles. Was struggling to accelerate. Brought in to chevy twice for it, could never locate issue. They located it after my warranty expired. No warning lights would come on.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving in first gear, the vehicle would independently enter limp mode as the check engine light would appear on the instrument panel. Due to the vehicle failing to accelerate above first gear, the contact would be forced to restart the vehicle as the vehicle would then resume normal operation. The contact stated that the vehicle had been taken to the dealer nine times due to the failure. The dealer had failed to duplicate the failure; however, when using a code reader, a message for the transmission control module would appear. Despite the dealer replacing both the transmission control module and wire harness attached to the module, the failure had persisted. The dealer had requested a traveling engineer to inspect the vehicle where unknown repairs were performed on the vehicle. The vehicle did appear to be repaired after the initial repair; however, the failure recently returned. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000

Shift to Park. Unable to turn the car off even though the car is in park. This was previously fixed in 10/24 and started up in 10/25 a few days after the 1yr warranty. I reached out to the dealership that repaired it in 2024 and was told that I would have to pay for the service as the part is not covered under the powertrain warranty. I reached out to GM for assistance and that was a lost cause. I was told that the repairs will only last 1 to 2 yrs, so this appears that it will be a temporary fix. My car has about 55000 miles on it. To know that I may possibly have to continue to get this fixed, I feel like this should be considered a lemon and they should refund me for the cost of the vehicle or give me another car. GM knows that the Shift to Park is an ongoing issue with this year, make, model and have failed to issue a recall.
