MY 2017 TAHOE IS JERKING, NOT GOING INTO OVERDRIVE SMOOTHLY, NOT ACCELERATING EASILY. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS YEAR MODEL HAD SEVERAL VEHICLES THAT HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR ONLY 6 MONTHS. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS AND ALSO CALLED GMC BUT WAS TOLD BY BOTH THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE. WITH THE COST OF THESE VEHICLES THERE SHOULD BE NO ISSUES ON A FAIRLY NEW MODEL AND FROM THE PREVIOUS COMMENTS I HAVE READ HERE GM NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON TRANSMISSIONS BEFORE A SERIOUS INJURY OCCURS.

IT WOULD FEEL AS IF IT WAS STUCK OR STRUGGLING TO SHIFT GEARS AND BOTH THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON . WE TOOK IT TO THE NEAREST CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP THINKING IT WAS A MINOR ISSUE BEING STILL FAIRLY NEW BUT WAS TOLD THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS NO WAY A 3 YEAR OLD CHEVROLET TAHOE WITH LESS THAN 100K MILES THAT'S BARELY BEEN DRIVEN DUE TO COVID NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS AS THESE MECHANICAL PROBLEMS COULD CREATE UNSAFE CONDITIONS FOR OTHER OWNERS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER DRIVING FOR 4 HOURS AT 55 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD WITH AN ABNORMAL GRINDING SOUND. THE SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST WARNING MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT ENGAGED THE PARKING BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING UP AN INCLINE. THE NEXT DAY, THE BRAKES RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION ON THE DRIVE HOME. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SINCE THE FAILURE, HE HAD EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT BRAKE FAILURE WHILE TRAVELING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, WITH THE SAME WARNING LIGHT FLASHING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TITUS-WILL CHEVROLET BUICK GMC CADILLAC (2425 CARRIAGE LOOP SW, OLYMPIA, WA 98502) AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE VACUUM PUMP. THE VACUUM PUMP WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT REMAINED IN THEIR POSSESSION UNREPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,300.

ON MY WAY TO WORK ON THE FREEWAY ABOUT 10 MILES OUT I STARTED HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS,IT WASN'T SHIFTING RIGHT AND AND SOMETIMES IT WOULD STAY ON ONE GEAR TOO LONG AND THE RPM WOULD STAY AT 4500RPM BEFORE IT SHIFTS AND THIS IS WHILE CRUISING AT 65MPH. AND WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE I WOULD HEAR A HUMMING/WHISTLING SOUND FROM WITHIN AND I COULDN'T GO PAST 70MPH. THEN THE 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN I GOT TO A STOP SIGN AFTER GETTING OFF THE FREEWAY MY TAHOE WOULD HESITATE WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS. WHEN I GOT TO THE PARKING LOT I TRIED TO BACK-IN TO PARKING SPACE AND MY TAHOE WOULD NOT GO ON REVERSE. AND WHEN I WAS LEAVING THE PARKING LOT TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO GET CHECKED OUT,WHEN I PUT IT ON DRIVE NOTHING HAPPENS AND AFTER ABOUT 10 SECONDS THE VEHICLE JUMPED INTO GEAR AND JERKED IT FORWARD WITHOUT STEPPING ON THE GAS SO MUCH SO,THAT THE REAR TIRES EVEN SCREECHED A BIT! IT SCARED THE SH*# OUT OF ME. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYBODY ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND WHAT WAS DONE TO RECTIFY IT.

26V289000 · Power Train:transfer Case (4-WHEEL Drive)

May 7, 2026

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2026 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, and Tahoe, and GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles with four-wheel (4WD) or all-wheel drive (AWD), and certain 2015-2020 Suburban, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Yukon, Yukon XL, and Tahoe vehicles. A component missing from the drivetrain transfer case may cause the front and/or rear wheels to lock up without warning to the driver.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Front or rear wheel lockup increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the remedy is completed. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the transfer case assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 18, 2026. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223. GM's number for this recall is N262557620. Oct 24, 2019

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.
