On June 7th, 2026, I pulled into my driveway, and put the truck in park (did not set the parking brake, but left it running). I walked, approximately 25 feet up my driveway, towards my garage, to retrieve my garbage can, to bring it to the road. About the time i got to my garbage can, my truck proceded to roll towards me, as i walked back towards the road. I then noticed it rolling, let go of my garbage can, ran to the truck, jumped in it, hit the brakes, and i had to shift the truck back in gear, then back in park. By that time, it had already struck the support pole to my temporary car port, destroyed it, and caused a small amount of damage to the front fender of my truck (small dent, and some scratches in the front plastic). I know i did not leave it in drive, as i had to shift it into gear, then back into park, as well as the fact, that it stayed still, as i walked normally, 25 feet up the driveway. I tested the truck, after the fact. It starts rolling immediately after taking your foot off the brake, from the same spot. On a side note, my truck had just received an update download, 2 days prior to the incident. There were no warning lights. Luckily, my safety, was the only one at risk. I have not had it inspected, and it has not happened again, since. I did contact General Motors, immediately, but got no response to my email. I do have a short security video, starting when i retrieved my garbage can, to the moment the truck struck the pole.

I am having the same issue as the GM Safety Recall N232426400 - where it says it is a common issue in 2020-2024 Chevy 1500's (which my truck is a 2022 Chevy). Where the tailgate will drop by itself. I looked into this recall and my truck is not included. However, it just rained heavy and now my truck's tailgate is dropping on it's own. This is a safety risk due to loading the truck bed and having it open on its own without me knowing resulting in items falling out of my truck onto the roadway. Another thing is my lane keeping assist is no longer working.

The vehicle experiences a recurring electronic and sensor failure where critical advanced safety systems completely shut down while driving. The dashboard displays active failures for the Front Collision Detection System, Automatic Headlights, and Lane Keeping Assistance. These sudden defects directly compromise the vehicle's crash avoidance features, nighttime visibility, and lane safety, creating a severe driving hazard. The vehicle has been taken to an authorized Chevrolet dealership for this exact safety issue more than 10 times. Most recently, all safety lights turned back on less than half a mile after exiting the dealership following an alleged repair. The authorized service center has been completely unable to properly diagnose or permanently fix these safety systems, leaving an unsafe vehicle on the road.

Even though I shifted into park, the power stays on, ie stereo, lights, HVAC etc. This is putting a strand on the battery, and computer systems. I now have a list of BCM codes - no communications. Dealer says it will take 2-3 days w/appointment All the vehicles (Volt & Bolt have National recall for the SAME problem) it is a Shifter micro switch The whole shifter assembly needs to be replaced. As I leave the truck, the warning beeper keeps blaring. I'm afraid someone could steal the truck.

6.2L engine had complete loss of power while traveling down the highway. Vehicle began to drive rough snd dash suddenly said shift to neutral which I did. During repairs vehicle was returned after 6 weeks and engine replacement. 24 hours after receiving vehicle I hit the push to start and vehicle was dead. Replaced battery and lights came one. Hit push to start and it killed all power. Towed back to dealer. They checked connections and tightened box on top of battery and returned vehicle. 72 hours later check engine light came on and vehicle went into limp mode. Drove it back to dealer. After a week they located chaffed wiring on the harness leading to transmission. Was told it is a common problem on the 6.2L engines.

am writing to formally request an investigation and potential recall regarding a serious and increasingly reported issue affecting certain Chevrolet trucks. Numerous owners have experienced a malfunction in which the vehicle fails to properly recognize that it has been placed in park. As a result, the truck may remain running and not fully shut off, even after the driver has exited the vehicle. This presents a concerning safety risk not only to the owner but also to others nearby. This issue is not isolated. A growing number of drivers have shared similar experiences across various social media platforms, demonstrating that this may be a widespread defect rather than individual mechanical failures. Many of these reports include videos and firsthand accounts showing trucks remaining on, displaying incorrect gear status, or failing to power down as expected. The consistency of these reports suggests a systemic problem that warrants immediate attention. The safety implications of this defect are significant. A vehicle that does not properly register being in park can increase the risk of unintended movement, potential rollaways, or prolonged engine operation. This could lead to property damage, injury, or worse, especially in residential or high-traffic areas. Additionally, a truck that remains running unattended raises concerns about theft and unnecessary emissions. Given the potential dangers and the volume of public complaints, I respectfully urge the NHTSA to conduct a thorough investigation into this matter. If a defect is confirmed, I strongly encourage the issuance of a recall to ensure that affected vehicles are properly repaired. The micro switch that tells the truck that it is in park is not working. So when the truck is put in park the display says vehicle not in park and dings. This started at only 48,000 miles intermittently but is doing so constantly now at 53,500 miles and I’m having to buy a part to replace it.

The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Engine failure increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect the engine, and as necessary, repair or replace the engine. For vehicles that pass inspection, dealers will add higher viscosity oil, install 6 oil fill cap, replace the oil filter, and update the owner's manual. Repairs will be performed free of charge. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Cadillac CT4 and CT5; 2021-2023 Buick Envision; and 2022-2023 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The daytime running lights (DRLs) may not deactivate when the headlights are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: DRLs that do not deactivate as intended may result in a glare, reducing visibility, and increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: The body control module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2023. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 vehicles. The sensing diagnostic module (SDM) was left in manufacturing mode and not activated at the assembly plant prior to shipment. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An SDM in manufacturing mode will not deploy the vehicle's air bags in a crash, increasing the risk of occupant injury.
Remedy: Dealers returned the vehicles to the GM assembly plant and the sensing diagnostic modules were activated. The vehicles had not been sold from dealer inventory and therefore no owner letters will be mailed. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. General Motors (GM) has decided that certain 2022 model year Chevrolet Silverado, and GMC Sierra vehicles equipped with an accessory sport bar. The accessory sport bar contains a high-mounted brake light that may not function. In addition, it may block the vehicle's existing high-mounted brake light. As such, these vehicles may fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An inoperative high-mounted brake light can reduce visibility to other drivers and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect the installation of the accessory bar and provide the correct vehicle wiring, if necessary, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters advising owners of the safety risk were mailed on August 10, 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 27, 2023. ODI has received complaints alleging engine failure in vehicles after the recall remedy had been completed, whether that remedy involved an oil viscosity change or a complete engine replacement. General Motors (GM) issued Recall 25V-274 to address concerns of engine failure in the L87 engines produced between March 1, 2021 and May 31, 2024. GM cited the root cause as a supplier manufacturing and quality issue. GM’s recall remedy for Recall 25V-274 consisted of two different repairs, either an oil viscosity change or an engine replacement, based on the results of the remedy inspection procedure. ODI continues to receive reports of engine failures after the completion of the recall remedy. To date, ODI has received 499 complaints alleging post-remedy engine failure in vehicles subject to Recall 25V-274, 473 of which involved an oil viscosity change and 26 a complete engine replacement. Additionally, ODI has received 191 reports of L87 engine failures in engines produced after the production period cited in Recall 25V-274. ODI continues to receive a significant number of reports of engine failure in vehicles outside the scope of 25V-274. This presents a potential safety risk that warrants further investigation. ODI is opening this Engineering Analysis (EA) to further evaluate the scope and severity of the potential problem and to fully assess the potential safety-related issues of vehicles built outside the recall scope. On January 16, 2025, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation PE25001 after receiving complaints and field reports concerning engine failures in MY2019-2024 GM’s full-size truck and SUV T1XX platform equipped with the L87 6.2L V8 engine. These complainants alleged engine bearing failures resulting in knocking and growling noises from the engine’s bottom end and in some cases more severe consequences such as broken connecting rods leading to engine damage, or engine failure. If the engine fails during vehicle operation, the vehicle will lose propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash. On April 24, 2025, GM issued recall 25V-274 to address the concern with L87 engines produced between March 1, 2021, and May 31, 2024. GM cited the root cause as a supplier manufacturing and quality issues. GM’s recall remedy will be either an oil change to an oil with a different viscosity or engine replacement depending on the results of the remedy inspection procedure. To date, ODI has received 1,157 allegations of engine bearing failure. GM submitted 55,464 reports in total, with 29,752 unique VINs. ODI continues to receive allegations of L87 engine failures which fall outside of the scope of recall 25V-274. Based on GM’s recall, ODI will close this PE.
