NHTSA Safety Complaint To: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Regarding: Vehicle Safety Hazard / Fraudulent Repairs on 2017 Chevrolet Silverado VIN: [XXX] To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to file an emergency vehicle safety complaint regarding a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, VIN [XXX], purchased on XXX. Huntley Ford performed unauthorized, fraudulent, and unsafe repairs that resulted in the vehicle being returned to me as an active fire hazard, directly violating federal motor vehicle safety expectations. Huntley Ford forced a salvage engine onto the vehicle, stripped me of my repair rights, and intentionally cleared dashboard error codes to mask severe, systemic mechanical defects. Following an engine replacement, transmission replacement, and catalytic converter replacement, I took the vehicle to Sunrise Chevrolet for inspection. The technician at Sunrise Chevrolet discovered that the vehicle was actively burning fluid onto the alternator. The technician explicitly stated that the vehicle was a fire hazard and that there was an emergency safety brake problem, and brakes. Huntley Ford knowingly delivered a structurally compromised and life-threatening vehicle. I request a full investigation into Huntley Ford’s repair safety practices to protect the public from further hazardous non-compliance. I have a 16 page paper trail Word document letter proving Huntley Ford committed auto fraud, has practiced illegal practices, lied, sold us a truck that they cleared codes, after only a few months full transmission, c. converter replacement, engine, and did not fix the truck properly still, returned it back to us when they knew it was not ok, lied, cleared codes, we brought our own scanner, they lied again, said the codes just needed to be cleared. When we notified [XXX], Huntley Ford's repair manager, he did nothing. Sincerely, [XXX]/[XXX] ________________________________________ INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Torque converter clutch failed and sent metal chips through the transmission causing the transmission to fall and made the truck not drivable. The check engine light came on a few hours before the transmission finally gave out. The transmission would not shift out of first gear. We were on a family trip to [XXX] from [XXX] and this left us stranded with three kids in the truck on the side of the road. When I took the truck to the shop they asked several other transmission shops if they had seen this issue and they all confirmed they did with the same truck and the best case is to rebuild the transmission instead of replacing the just the torque converter clutch due to the amount of damage it did. Transmission failure at 120, 000 was replaced. Then factory thermostat went and then trickled down to the transmission. Got too hot and cooked the transmission. Come to find out it was also the radiator so that was replaced along with the thermostat and a second transmission. Put a transmission cooler on but still get very warm on the transaction fluid. Can't keep the temperature down in the summer while I'm towing. Trailer is well under the weight of the max capacity for the truck. And the latest problem I've had was to replace parts of the frame because that was rotted and beyond inspectable. Now I'm 14,000 in the negative with no reprieve. What is GM going to do for me as far as reimbursement? Cuz I still owe a little over $9,000 on the truck. This is ridiculous and I believe I'm going to another brand of truck when I can get out from underneath this one. I've been a Chevy owner my entire life and this is how you guys react to all your mistakes.

I am submitting a complaint regarding my 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT. My truck currently has approximately 80,000 miles, and it has recently been diagnosed by a Chevrolet dealership as needing a complete transmission replacement. This vehicle has been lightly driven and very well maintained, and I rarely drive it. Because of this, I am extremely concerned and disappointed that such a major mechanical component has failed at such relatively low mileage. A transmission should reasonably last well beyond 80,000 miles under normal driving conditions. The dealership informed me that the entire transmission needs to be replaced, which is a very costly repair. Given the mileage and the way the vehicle has been used, I believe this may indicate a defect or premature failure rather than normal wear and tear. I am requesting that General Motors review this situation and consider goodwill assistance or coverage for the repair. I purchased this vehicle with the expectation that it would be reliable for many more miles, and this issue has significantly affected my confidence in the vehicle. I would appreciate a review of my case and any assistance GM can provide toward resolving this problem

19V761000 · Electronic Stability Control (esc); Service Brakes; Service Brakes, Hydraulic:antilock/traction Control/electronic Limited Slip:wheel Speed Sensor/tone Ring

Oct 24, 2019

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

Jul 10, 2017

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.

The recall began on October 13, 2016.
