CALLED GM 8/6/01, REAR SPINDLE ARMS BAD, CONSUMER WAS TOLD VEHICLE IS TOO OLD, THEY RUST OUT, FRONT END SUSPENSION IS ALSO DOING THE SAME,CONSUMER GOT THE SAME STORY. VEHICLE STALLS, LOSS OF CONTROL AND DOOR HANDLES BREAK OFF.
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING 25MPH ON A RESIDENTAL STREET AND MOTOR FELL TO GROUND. THERE WAS A LOSS OF STEERING,VEHICLE JUMPED CURB AND LANDED SOMEONES LAWN. THEN, STOPPED JUST BEFORE HITTING HOUSE. SERVICE GARAGE FOUND METAL WASHER DETERIORATED DUE TO ROAD SALT, AND CAUSE THE MOTOR MOUNTS TO WEAKEN. *AK
EXECESSIVE FUEL WAS BEING DISPENCED DOWN THE PLENUM FILLING THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WITH GASOLINE. WHEN CONVERTER REACHED OPERATING TEMP. OF APPROX. 1800 DEGREES THE FUEL IN THE CONVERTER WAS IGNITED CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS VEHICLE STALLS UNEXPECTEDLY WHICH MAY CAUSE A CRASH. UNABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE. IT USUALLY TAKES ABOUT 15 MINUTES BEFORE VEHICLE IS ABLE TO RUN AGAIN. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
ALL SIX FUEL INJECTORS FAILED. NLM
APPARENTLY THE ALUMINUM ENGINE BLOCKS WARP AND CRACK, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO FREEZE UP. I OWNED THE CAR 2 WEEKS WHEN THIS HAPPENED. PUT IN $3000. CHEVY HAS KNOWN THIS SINCE IT WAS INSTALLED. I KNOW PEOPLE AT THE DORAVILLE PLANT.
AFTER PURCHASING GAS AND DRIVING ABOUT 25 MILES DOWN THE ROAD, NOTICED A FUNNY SMELL COMING INTO THE CAR. CAR WOULD NOT GO, BUT 45 MPH. GAS WOULD FLOOD THE ENGINE. TOOK TO DEALER ,AND THEY SAID SEALS CORRODED BECAUSE OF THE CHEMICALS IN THE GAS. *AK

THERE IS FUEL LEAKAGE AT THE FUEL TANK FILL AND/OR VENT PIPE EXTENSION SOLDER JOINTS.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: FUEL LEAKS CAN LEAD TO A VEHICLE FIRE IF EXPOSED TO ASOURCE OF IGNITION.
Remedy: REPLACE THE FUEL TANK.

THE REVERSE SERVO APPLY PIN MAY BIND IN THE CASE WHICH COULD CAUSE REVERSE BAND DISTRESS (LOSS OR SLIPPING OF REVERSE), REVERSE BAND DRAG IN DRIVE RANGE (POOR PERFORMANCE -- POOR POWER), OR THE TRANSMISSION TO REMAIN IN REVERSE WHILE THE SHIFT INDICATOR SHOWS NEUTRAL GEAR POSITION.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IF THE TRANSMISSION REMAINS IN REVERSE WHILE THE SHIFTINDICATOR SHOWS NEUTRAL, THE VEHICLE MAY UNEXPECTEDLY MOVE REARWARD AND RESULTIN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.
Remedy: REPLACE THE TRANSAXLE WHERE REQUIRED.
