ABS & TRACTION CONTROL SERVICE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON AND I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE HUB ASSEMBLY FOR THE LEFT SIDE DRIVER SIDE THAT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE MY FRONT ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS (I WASN'T HAVING ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAKES BUT BECAUSE THEY SAID THEY NEEDED REPLACING I WENT ALONG WITH IT). AFTER REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED AND MY VEHICLE "ROAD-TESTED", I PICKED UP MY CAR AND AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, BOTH THE ABS AND TRACTION SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND I CALLED AND THEY SCHEDULED ME IN FOR AN APPT. 2 DAYS LATER. THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM SO THEY CALLED AND TOLD ME THAT THEY NEEDED TO DIG DEEPER AND KEEP MY CAR OVERNIGHT AND THAT I WOULD NOW BE CHARGED A DIAGNOSTIC FEE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM UP TO $100. MY SERVICE 2 DAYS PRIOR COST $224.90 SO I WAS A LITTLE SKEPTICAL BUT I NEEDED TO KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS SO I AGREED. I RECEIVE A PHONE CALL TODAY STATING THAT IT IS A WIRE IN THE HARNESS THAT'S CAUSING THE PROBLEM AND IT WOULD BE ANOTHER $250.00 TO FIX. I CHECK THE INTERNET TO FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION AND NOT ONLY HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ME BUT TO SEVERAL OTHERS AND OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND SHOULD BE COVERED AND HOW DO I KNOW THAT THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T CAUSE THE PROBLEM/DEFECT BY DIGGING DEEPER TO FIND OUT WHY THE SERVICE LIGHTS WERE COMING ON AND DAMAGED THE WIRE. *TR

14V355000 · Electrical System:ignition

Jun 23, 2014

This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2005-2009 Buick LaCrosse, 2006-2011 Buick Lucerne, 2000-2005 Cadillac DeVille, 2006-2011 Cadillac DTS, 2006-2014 Chevrolet Impala, and 2006-2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the weight on the key ring and road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Additionally, a key knocked out of the run position will cause loss of engine power, power steering, and power braking, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will install two key rings and an insert in the key slot or a cover over the key head on all ignition keys, free of charge. The recall began on September 23, 2014. Owners may contact General Motors customer service at 1-800-521-7300 (Buick), 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac), and 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet). GM's number for this recall is 14299.

06V419000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:storage

Oct 31, 2006

ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, THE FUEL TANK IS MISSING THE ADHESIVE LAYER THAT BONDS THE BARRIER LAYER TO THE OUTER SHELL OF THE FUEL TANK.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: WITH THIS CONDITION, FUEL AND/OR FUEL VAPORS COULD SEEP OUT BETWEEN THE LAYERS, INCREASING THE RISK OF A FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE SERIAL NUMBER ON THE FUEL TANK AND REPLACE THE FUEL TANK IF NECESSARY. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 13, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BUICK AT 1-866-608-8080, CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, OR PONTIAC AT 1-800-620-7668.
