I HAVE A 1992 LT-! CORVETTE. IT HAS A OPTI SPARK DISTRIBUTER THAT IS PRONE TO FAIL FROM MOISTURER AND HEAT. MINE HAS FAILES AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE COST IS AROUND 700.00 FOR THE PARTS TO DO THIS RIGHT. HAS THERE BEEN A RECALL ON THE DEFECTIVE DISTRIBUTER. THIS INFOMATION IS WELL DOCUMENTED AND IS A WELL KNOW DEFECTIVE PART.…

THE POWER STEERING GEAR INLET HOSE ON THESE VEHICLES CAN FRACTURE, CAUSING POWER STEERING FLUID TO SPRAY FROM HOSE INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THE POWER STEERING FLUID IS FLAMMABLE AND COULD CAUSEAN UNDERHOOD FIRE IF EXPOSED TO A SOURCE OF IGNITION.

Remedy: REPLACE THE POWER STEERING GEAR INLET HOSE WITH AN IMPROVED DESIGN.
