2014 Cadillac Srx

Since we moved to the East Coast, four years ago, the headlights on the 2014 SRX have slowly dimmed until they are completely ineffectual. When looking out the front window on a dark road, there is only a very dim, barely perceptible, lightening of the road directly in front of the car when the headlights are turned on. When approaching another car, the headlights resemble running lights or parking lights and could easily be overlooked in snow or heavy rain. Similar complaints are everywhere online, some indicating that internal Cadillac service memos cite defective seals that allow moisture to enter and corrode the whole light housing and that the only fix is replacing both the light assemblies for $2000...WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART! $2000 represents close to 13% of the Kelly Blue Book Value of the car. For a few months, coinciding with the initial Covid outbreak, Cadillac offered some people (not us) the option of having the light assemblies replaced and applying for a reimbursement within a very narrow time window. I never heard about this at the time and have no idea how these people were selected for notification and contacted. I would like to see Cadillac accept responsibility and recall the part which is obviously a huge safety issue!

Unable to see safely driving at night especially during rainy or snowy driving. Headlamps are so dim my automatic high beams go on constantly even when opposing traffic are coming towards me. I purchased the Cadillac used 2021. I called the Cadillac dealer they stayed Cadillac used to reimburse owners prior to last year. I cannot afford $3400 for replacing the headlamps! This is putting my family and opposing traffic at high risk for an accident.

The vehicle was repaired but after retrieving the vehicle it was discovered that the ABS, Stabilitrak and traction control warning lights were all illuminated. The cause of the failure was not determined. The service center refused to repair the additional issues. The manufacturer was notified of the issue but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 127,249.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who accidentally reset the air bag code when it was connected to the code reader. The failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall for the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

Headlights are so dim at night that I have to use highbeams to see properly which is extremely dangerous. This is a ongoing problem I have had since I bought the vehicle and it is getting worse. I try not to drive at night because of this issue. A recall by GM should be immediately initiated. The estimate I received to replace is more than $1,600! Why would there be such a high cost to replace when this issue has been happening since purchasing the vehicle?
