I've had a estimate of $1763.24 to fix problem at Labadie Cadillac in Bay City, MI. After investigation this has been a problem known to you for years, I don't understand why a safety recall has not already been ordered against GM, we can't see where we're going at night, that sounds like a safety problem to me. I know GM has paid for repairs after class action lawsuits, but why wasn't a safety recall ordered by you?

The stock halogen headlights (low beams) are so dim you can't tell if they are on or not. New halogen bulbs did not help. I replaced them with LED units at my own expense.

Since we moved to the East Coast, four years ago, the headlights on the 2014 SRX have slowly dimmed until they are completely ineffectual. When looking out the front window on a dark road, there is only a very dim, barely perceptible, lightening of the road directly in front of the car when the headlights are turned on. When approaching another car, the headlights resemble running lights or parking lights and could easily be overlooked in snow or heavy rain. Similar complaints are everywhere online, some indicating that internal Cadillac service memos cite defective seals that allow moisture to enter and corrode the whole light housing and that the only fix is replacing both the light assemblies for $2000...WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART! $2000 represents close to 13% of the Kelly Blue Book Value of the car. For a few months, coinciding with the initial Covid outbreak, Cadillac offered some people (not us) the option of having the light assemblies replaced and applying for a reimbursement within a very narrow time window. I never heard about this at the time and have no idea how these people were selected for notification and contacted. I would like to see Cadillac accept responsibility and recall the part which is obviously a huge safety issue!

Unable to see safely driving at night especially during rainy or snowy driving. Headlamps are so dim my automatic high beams go on constantly even when opposing traffic are coming towards me. I purchased the Cadillac used 2021. I called the Cadillac dealer they stayed Cadillac used to reimburse owners prior to last year. I cannot afford $3400 for replacing the headlamps! This is putting my family and opposing traffic at high risk for an accident.

My headlights are so dim, they look as though they are not even on! I cannot drive at night anymore. I was informed that there was a recall in 2019 for this issue, however I never saw one. This should indeed be a safety issue, because these headlights don’t light up sh*t. GM should be ashamed of themselves!

I try not to drive at night because of this issue. A recall by GM should be immediately initiated. The estimate I received to replace is more than $1,600! Why would there be such a high cost to replace when this issue has been happening since purchasing the vehicle?

The contact initially received a warranty letter from the manufacturer that informed his wife that she may be reimbursed if she had the headlights replaced. The high-beam headlights were used to provide adequate illumination for safe driving. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer who informed him they could offer no assistance with the headlight failure. The contact paid out of pocket to have the headlights repaired by an independent mechanic. The manufacturer offered no assistance after he was informed that he no longer qualified for the warranty. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

Dim lights housing burned out. Diagnosed by local mechanic and confirmed by Cadillac dealership in Smyrna, Ga. Service dept. says all SRX are having this problem, but he also stated that the recall was already done. The actual recall I received was about condensation in the lights which does not seem to be a problem for my vehicle, so if people are taking their vehicles in and being told the recall is already done, then they are probably not reporting the problem. This affects the safety of myself and others as I am unable to see well in dimly lit areas and I have to use my bright lights to avoid having an accident. There is no warning indicator for this. I can just tell that the lights are not working properly. Also the electronic touch screen that controls the radio and heating is not working properly. I cannot redirect the heat, so it only blows out of defrost vents. It’s very cold in the back for my 4 year old. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request and once I get the mechanic to look at it again, I can provide a picture of the burned out housing unit.

On November 06, 2020, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened a Preliminary Evaluation (PE20-019) to assess the remedy and scope of General Motors (GM) recall 14V-571. ODI had received a total of 9 complaints with allegations of rear toe links separating while the vehicle was in motion. There were 4 complainants indicating that the remedy for recall 14V-571 had been performed on their vehicle. The other 5 complaints were outside the original recall scope but exhibited the same failure mode as addressed by recall 14V-571 and reported uncontrolled swaying while driving.ODI's review focused on all 2010-2015 Cadillac SRX vehicles that experienced a rear toe link failure while the vehicle was in motion under various driving conditions. The failures were the same or similar to those addressed by the remedy associated with recall 14V-571. The remedy for recall 14V-571 was to inspect the rear toe link adjusters and replace them if necessary as well as tighten both jam nuts to a manufacturer specified torque. The remedy can be reversed when the vehicle gets a rear alignment adjustment and the jam nuts are not properly re-torqued to the manufacturer's specification. ODI's data review confirmed a high toe link failure rate in vehicles that either had and had not received the remedy associated with recall 14V-571. On June 24, 2021, GM filed a defect information report recalling all 2010-2016 Cadillac SRX and 2011-2012 Saab 9-4X vehicles to remedy the potential failure of the rear toe link adjuster while driving. The remedy replaces adjustable toe links with non-adjustable toe links. The recall (21V-473) includes vehicles that were remedied under 14V-571. In view of the recall action being taken by GM, ODI is closing this Preliminary Evaluation. NHTSA reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. The ODI complaints cited above can be viewed at www.nhtsa.gov.The ODI identification numbers for the complaints cited above can be found in a separate document attached to this closing resume.
