TRAVELING TO A DESTINATION IN SOUTH DAKOTA, NORTH OF MADISON, THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM WAS GIVING US TURN BY TURN DIRECTIONS TO THE SPECIFIC LOCATION. WITH IN 5-10 MILES OF THE LOCATION THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM STOP GIVING TURN BY TURN AND INFORMED US THAT WE HAD TO PROCEED BASED ON OUR OWN NAVIGATION. THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM ACCEPTED THE ADDRESS AND PLOTTED THE ROUTE TO THE LOCATION INDICATING THAT IT COULD TAKE US TO THE LOCATION. THE WEATHER WAS APPROXIMATELY 15-17 DEGREES F AND IT WAS SNOWING. MANY OF THE ROAD INTERSECTIONS IN THE RURAL PART OF SD ARE NOT MARKED. SINCE THE NAVIGATION INDICATED IT COULD TAKE US THERE WE DID NOT PREPARE ANY ADDITIONAL MAPS AND THERE WAS NOT ADEQUATE CELL OR WIFI RECEPTION FOR CELL NAVIGATION IN THAT AREA. WE WERE LEFT STRANDED. THE PEOPLE WE WERE VISITING WERE HOME AND WE CALLED THEM AND GOT DIRECTIONS. THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM DID THIS TO US 3 MORE TIMES. ONE OF THOSE TIMES IT TOOK US AROUND IN CIRCLES ON DANGEROUS ICY SNOW COVERED ROADS WITH OUT GETTING TO OUR DESTINATION. WE WERE VERY LUCKY THE WE DID NOT SLIDE OFF THE ROAD OR HAVE AN ACCIDENT AS SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES DID THAT EVENING. WE NOTIFIED TOYOTA, TOOK THE VEHICLE IN 3 OR 4 TIMES, GAVE ADDRESSES TO TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THAT WAS NORMAL OPERATION OF THEIR NAVIGATION SYSTEM. IF THIS IS NORMAL OPERATION OF THE TOYOTA NAVIGATION SYSTEM IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD STRAND YOU IN BAD WEATHER OR IN A REMOTE LOCATION OUT OF GAS, FOOD OR ACCESS TO EMERGENCY HELP. *TR
